July Newsletter

July, and indeed summer itself, can be a quiet time for landscape photographers unless you enjoy pretty, sunny postcard scenes - which is of course absolutely fine. I believe that even in the height of summer, if the creative juices are in full flow, there is always a photograph in waiting, such as the photograph above. This image, titled 'Komorebi', was taken in one of the many ancient gardens of Kanazawa, Japan. Komorebi literally translates as light filtering through leaves. Who hasn't been transfixed by this simple wonder of nature? I have just released this print as an edition of five only, printed on Japanese 'washi' paper for a really tactile experience. You can view details of the print by simply clicking the image above.

In other news, I am delighted to share that this autumn I am offering a unique 1-Day Field Mentorship at Spurn Point. This will be strictly limited to four participants so act fast if you'd like to join us. You can view all the details here.

If you're not feeling inspired to head out with your camera during the summer months, this can be a good time to focus on learning new skills - sequencing your projects, fine tuning your print workflow or post-production. If you'd like assistance with any of these subjects, or perhaps something else, do get in touch. For inspiration, take a peek at my currently available online courses. From a 1-hour post-production session to a full year 'Working with Projects' course, or a session tailored to your individual requirements, such as a portfolio review - I am here to help! Please see the Online Tuition page here.
