Introduced to photography at a young age, Karl soon evolved his own distinctive style, the "visual mantra", which is underpinned by Japanese influences and focuses on composition and the importance of negative space. Karl applies this approach to the fields of landscape, fine art, documentary and travel photography, creating a cohesive look and feel across diverse subject matter. With a degree in conservation, Karl has a particular interest in the natural world and finds it is often the ecological detail that intrigues and that is equally important as the stunning vistas in evoking emotion and capturing the mood of a location. Delving deeper into the natural and in some cases spiritual, it is the energy of locations which holds the most intrigue. Karl's work portrays a sense of the history of places, be that a human, animal or landscape energy.

Karl is an ambassador for Benro UK, a LEE Filters Master Photographer and has worked with many other leading photographic manufacturers.
